31st December

DP 365

Well, what can I say about the final envelope? Drawing this was tough because I was filled with a heady mix of relief, sadness, elation and anxiety that made focusing on drawing quite hard. Plus I've never found finishing things easy, so I put this one off until I couldn't avoid it any more.

At first I thought that I should end with something spectacular but in the end, something very simple seemed more apt. After all, the whole point of the Diary Project is that all our journeys with drawing are a work in progress and an endless acceptance of where we are right now.

I know that many people have been inspired by this project and to you, and everyone else, I have only five words to say:

GO DRAW. DO IT NOW!

If I can do it, so can you...

It doesn't have to be perfect, indeed, I've found during this year that the quest for perfection is the enemy of drawing. Instead, it just needs to be something that comes from you.

yey, finally the last ones.
oh kirsty - i thank you so much for all the inspiration and courage you gave me with this project. i am giving art a higher priority in my life now. i try to leave the need for perfection. i copied lots of your pictures from the site onto my computer and i am sure, that i'll watch them over and over, whenever i need some non-realistic-drawing-inspiration.

i am so impressed that you made it through all of the year.
wishing you and your art and inspiration all the best!

I just discovered your blog today and it such an amazing idea. This just the sort of push I needed to get back to drawing. Very impressed how you managed to complete the diary throughout the year. I hope I can succeed.

Love

I'm now going back to the beginning to appreciate your endeavour in its entirety...

What an interesting project. I love the idea of working on the back of envelopes, and your drawings convey a sense of such beautiful simplicity.

Wow, you've done it! And so beautifully too, you must be proud of yourself. This last one looks like teary eyelashes, quite fitting.

Such a great project and such "beautiful" envelopes ! Congratulations ! I am really curious about the content too ... What you said about the quest for perfection, being the enemy of drawing (and all creativity, in fact), is so true ...
I s h o u l d go and draw ;-) ...
Good luck with part two of the project !

Thank you. I think I needed to hear this today. I am always so scared to create because it won't look right. I need to get out of this way of thinking.
